Class Description:

In this course we will cover “the body’s organ systems, ranging from the digestive and respiratory systems to the endocrine and lymphatic systems.” We will also review how the body fights off viruses and things such as the intricate workings of the cells ATP production in the Electron Transport Chain. We will be doing lots of dissections including cow eye, sheep brain, fetal pig and cat. We will make a brains out of play dough, find out our blood types at the end of the year and have a fun forensics case to solve using blood typing.

Class Description:

Every class will be an adventure as we will go on safari through jungles, deserts, forests, and farms. We will examine and enjoy the incredible variety of enchanting creatures God made to inhabit the Earth. Powerful projects for this course include playing predator to colored candies that hide in camouflage, acting like a primate to judge depth perception, discovering why giraffes have high blood pressure, identifying animal tracks, dissecting owl pellets and identifying the owl’s last meal, and much more!

Class Description:

In this course, students will learn writing in conjunction with critical thinking and speaking.

During the first half of the school year, students will learn about the form of fables, discover culturally important examples, practice reading short texts, learn to copy accurately, strengthen their memory through dictation, gain opportunities to imitate sentences & fables, learn about the concepts of the main idea/character traits, and more.

The second-semester students will be exposed to parables, myths, and other tales to teach beginning writers the craft of writing well. Lessons focus on beginning/middle/end; written and oral narration; longer writing assignments; the main idea; conflict; adding dialogue and description; writing given stories; and more.

Class Description:

This class will combine learning about beautiful music and making some of our own!

During the first half of each class, students will meet some of history’s greatest musical masters through listening, analyzing, comparing, and discussing musical selections. Through engaging activities, students will gain understanding of beat, meter, tempo, dynamics, articulation, style, and instrumentation.

During the second half of class, we’ll learn to play the recorder! In this beginner class, students will learn to produce quality tone and play accurately on the soprano recorder. Students will learn to read basic treble clef musical notation and rhythms and explore musical terminology and symbols. We will play as a whole group and in smaller ensembles as we perform folk tunes, holiday songs, and rounds. Students will also learn to clean and care for their instruments. 

No previous musical experience necessary!

Students will be expected to practice at home.

Beautiful Feet’s History of the Horse is a wonderful course that is sure to captivate your horse-loving student! Through various books and activities, we will trace the story of the horse as well as explore the integral role the horse has had in the human story.

“This literature approach to the history of the horse begins in the 1700s with the Godolphin Arabian and continues through the early 1900s. Students will learn about the famous Lipizzaner stallions, the wild American mustangs, the American-bred Morgan horse, the Chincoteague ponies, and other breeds. The study uses Marguerite Henry’s award-winning books and titles by Walter Farley and Anna Sewell. Learn horse anatomy, breed identification, basic horse sketching, charting blood lines and Bible memory verses regarding the horse.” (from publisher)

Class Description:

Students will learn basic computer literacy programs in Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides and Forms) that are standard in classrooms and businesses, similar to the Microsoft Office options.

Because healthy organization and task management skills are necessary in many areas of life, students will learn how to develop these skills with email folders, file organization and Asana.

Students will also gain experience in basic graphic design skills with Canva, a well-respected graphic design platform.
